Rites of Passage Ceremony
Take part in meaningful, pan-cultural Rites of Passage in the modern world through vision fasts + transformative nature-based programs. Cross into the natural world to mark and celebrate significant life transitions. Integrate ceremony and nature-based practices into your life.
Throughout history, cultures all over the world have engaged in Rites of Passage. The School of Lost Borders used the bare bones of these histories to create a pan-cultural system for modern-day people to use nature as the mirror for healing.
We support you in taking what is meaningful for you to create a self-generated ceremony to take out on the land to work with nature (or as is more often the case, to allow nature to work on you). Held in the beauty of nature, the ceremony unfolds in a unique way for each person. After the solo ceremony has concluded, we come back together for a storytelling council where your story is mirrored back to you to deepen the medicine of it.
These initiatory, transformational experiences are for those seeking growth, insight, and restoration. Participants are of various ages, lifestyles, and cultures.
the components of our ceremonies
-
We use sharing councils to help us connect with ourselves, each other, our wisdom, and the natural environment around us. Our base camp offers the possibilities for deep exploration and insights while creating a supportive community during our time together.
-
Participants are outside in the natural world to immerse themselves in reflection and restoration. Contemplative nature walks with a set intention or a reflective task create the container for you to wander with all your senses open and let intuition guide your movements.
-
The vision fast ceremony is a rite of passage that helps navigate the complexity of these times and mark, honor, and celebrate life transitions.
This involves time alone in nature, with minimal or no food, and leaving behind distractions and daily routines.
When we take the time to honor life's changing seasons and thoughtfully respond to the question "Who am I?" and "What do I have to offer?" we step into our true nature and a sense of belonging amongst the land and our communities.
The results can be profound. Meaning and purpose can return, and life can become richer, clearer, and more full.
-
As you return across the threshold, you are reunited with your group and guides. They will listen to and mirror back your story. This is a time to incorporate all you learned on your rite of passage and get the support you need to bring it back to your community.
